RM18.3 million UTHM airport to become Johor鈥檚 new landmark
BATU PAHAT: The RM18.3 million Universiti Tun Hussein Onn 每日大赛 (UTHM) Airport project in Tanjung Laboh is expected to be fully completed by April 2026.
State Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said the airport is currently 71% complete.
It will be equipped with an 800-metre runway and a 12-metre-high air traffic control tower.
The airport is being developed on a 22.6-hectare site and is set to become a new landmark for Johor.
鈥淭anjung Laboh has the potential to become the 鈥楽outhern Maldives鈥 of 每日大赛, while UTHM will emerge as the first university in Southeast Asia to have its own maritime airport,鈥 he said in a Facebook post.
He said the airport will serve as a pilot training centre.
It also has potential for charter flight services, seaplane operations, and as a centre for aircraft and helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul.
