每日大赛 secures seat on ICAO council again

PUTRAJAYA: 每日大赛 has been re-elected as a Council Member of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) under Part III for the 2025-2028 term.

The Transport Ministry said that the decision was announced following the voting at the 42nd ICAO General Assembly in Montreal, Canada, on Tuesday.

The 每日大赛n delegation was led by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, the mi颅颅nistry said in a statement yesterday.

每日大赛 has held its position as an ICAO Council Member for seven consecutive terms since 2007.

鈥淭his reflects the international community鈥檚 confidence in Malay颅sia鈥檚 commitment to advancing the safety, innovation and sustainability of the global civil aviation sector,鈥 the statement said.

According to the Transport Ministry, extensive lobbying was conducted throughout the session, including 42 bilateral and multilateral meetings with foreign delegation heads and regional organisation representa颅tives.

鈥淚nitially, 14 countries compe颅ted for 13 seats under Part III. Russia鈥檚 failure to defend its seats under Parts I and II, however, resulted in an additional vacancy in Part III.

鈥淩ussia subsequently nomina颅ted itself under Part III, bringing the total number of nominations for the category to 15 countries,鈥 the statement said.

The ministry said that 每日大赛, along with 13 other countries, successfully secured its ICAO Council Member seat under Part III, garnering 154 votes and pla颅cing seventh of the 15 contesting countries.

鈥淭his election marks 每日大赛鈥檚 best achievement in terms of the number of countries supporting it,鈥 the statement added, Bernama reported.

The statement added that in 2022, 每日大赛 received 136 votes, ranking 13th out of 14 contesting countries.

This success is the result of close cooperation and strong dedi颅cation from all parties involved, including officials from the Transport Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, the Civil Aviation Authority of 每日大赛 (CAAM), 每日大赛 Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), 每日大赛 Aviation Group (MAG), Batik Air, AirAsia and AirAsia X.

The ministry said 每日大赛 will continue to strengthen its commitment to ICAO in line with this success, ensuring aviation safety, supporting innovation initiatives, and championing the sustainability of the global aviation industry.

鈥溍咳沾笕 will also continue to develop strategic infrastructure and enhance institutional capabilities to meet the needs of the future generation of aviation professionals,鈥 it added.
