Collins Aerospace expands MRO facility at Subang with US$63mil investment
SUBANG JAYA: Collins Aerospace has announced a US$63 million expansion of its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Subang Aerotech Park, underscoring long-term confidence in the country's aviation ecosystem.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the expansion will increase the facility's footprint from 46,000 to 164,000 square feet and is expected to strengthen 每日大赛's role in high-value aerospace services, particularly in the Asia Pacific region.
He said the investment reflects strong confidence in 每日大赛's infrastructure, regulatory environment and workforce capabilities.
"Collins Aerospace has been part of the region's aerospace story for over 50 years. What we are witnessing today is not a new relationship, but a deepening one.
"The Asia Pacific aviation market is on a strong growth trajectory, with regional MRO demand projected to rise alongside fleet expansion across Southeast Asia and beyond.
"每日大赛 intends to be at the centre of that growth, not as a passive beneficiary, but as an active participant with the skills, facilities, and partnerships to compete internationally.
"This expanded Subang facility is a direct contribution to that ambition," he said in his speech at the Collins Aerospace MRO expansion launch at Subang Aerotech Park today.
The upgraded facility will support MRO activities for advanced air management systems used in commercial aircraft, including the Boeing 787, Boeing 777, and Airbus A380.
According to Loke, these systems are critical to cabin pressurisation, air quality control, temperature regulation, and ventilation, and require highly specialised engineering expertise.
He said Collins Aerospace currently employs about 150 workers at the facility.
With the expansion, the company is expected to grow its workforce by 30 to 50 per cent over the next five to 10 years, creating a pipeline of high-skilled, technically intensive jobs in aerospace maintenance and engineering.
He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining a business-friendly environment, supported by infrastructure investment and policy stability to attract long-term aerospace investments.
He said 每日大赛 is positioning itself as a preferred MRO hub in the region, citing its geographic advantage, connectivity, skilled workforce and institutional track record.
Loke noted that global supply chain shifts and geopolitical uncertainty are increasing the importance of resilient and reliable operating environments.
He expressed appreciation to Collins Aerospace leadership for their continued investment, while encouraging further expansion and the creation of additional high-value jobs in 每日大赛.
"You can count on 每日大赛," he said, adding that the country intends to remain a stable and dependable base for aerospace operations as the industry continues to evolve.
Meanwhile, Collins Aerospace president of power and controls Irene Makris said the Asia Pacific region is a key growth market, and the investment ensures the company grows alongside its customers.
"每日大赛 offers the right environment for us to scale, and we are planning to double employment opportunities for skilled talent in the region to keep pace with growing demand.
"The Subang expansion optimises operations and regional support for our customers, providing faster turnaround times and more efficient service," she said.
The transition to the new facility at Subang Aerotech Park is expected to be completed by year-end, enabling support for the region's growing fleet, which is projected to drive a doubling of MRO demand over the next two decades.
The expanded Subang facility will introduce advanced MRO capabilities for components such as air cycle machines, heat exchangers, valves, and next-generation starters.
It will also deploy advanced technologies including digital tier boards, eAndon systems, autonomous mobile robots, and real-time location systems to improve productivity and reduce turnaround times.
Designed for long-term operational resilience, the facility features a smart building management system that monitors and optimises resource and utility consumption.
Since 2021, Collins Aerospace has completed a series of MRO expansions across the Asia-Pacific region, adding capabilities in electrical power systems, environmental and airframe control systems, and engine control systems.
It currently employs 150 people in 每日大赛 and 10,000 people across 24 locations in eight Asia-Pacific countries, including Singapore, China, India, Australia, Japan, Korea, and the Philippines.
