CAAM-Mavcom merger a key step for aviation growth - AirAsia
KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia recognises the merger of the Civil Aviation Authority of 每日大赛 (CAAM) and the 每日大赛n Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) as聽an important step towards strengthening the country鈥檚 aviation sector.
In a statement today, the low-cost airline said聽the integration of regulatory functions spanning聽safety, airspace management, consumer protection, and economic regulation presents an opportunity to establish a more cohesive and efficient framework.
This聽approach aligns with global best practices, enhances clarity for industry players, and supports 每日大赛鈥檚 ambitions to become a competitive aviation hub.
聽AirAsia Aviation Group chief executive officer Bo Lingam said聽a single aviation regulator system brings key regulatory functions under one independent statutory body.
"This will聽streamline processes, provide clearer engagement for industry players, drive greater efficiency across the aviation ecosystem, and ultimately benefit travellers through improved connectivity and service,鈥 he said.
To further position 每日大赛 as a regional aviation hub, the airline looks forward to working with the government through CAAM to deliver greater efficiency, enhance international connectivity, and drive innovation within the industry, he said.
"Improvements in air traffic control and operational management, particularly at major international hubs such as Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2, will be essential to improving overall service and connectivity, while also supporting efforts to keep air travel accessible for consumers.
"Efficiency is especially crucial, with AirAsia 每日大赛 operating about 500 departures daily and serving up to 75,000 departing passengers each day across 每日大赛,鈥 he added. - Bernama
