KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 27): Batik Air will strengthen its regional footprint with the launch of nine new routes on Dec 8, 2025, a landmark expansion that underscores the carrier’s ambition to enhance connectivity across ÿ�մ��� and Southeast Asia.

Batik Air said the expansion includes new routes from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang (SZB), to Singapore, Jakarta, Langkawi and Johor Bahru.

“This expansion also underscores Batik Air’s support for the government’s Subang Airport Regeneration Plan, contributing to its vision of positioning Subang as a vibrant regional hub,” the airline said in a statement on Saturday, adding that the SZB is set to become a key hub in its operations.

At the same time, Penang will assume a more strategic role in Batik Air’s network with new services to Singapore, Medan, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, positioning the Penang International Airport as a key connector linking the region with Sabah and Sarawak and neighbouring countries.

The Sultan Azlan Shah Airport in Ipoh will also be added to the airline’s network through new direct flights to Singapore, it said.

It added that starting November 2025, all Lion Group airlines, including Batik Air, will operate from Terminal 4 of the Changi Airport, offering improved facilities and smoother connections for passengers.

Batik Air chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said the expansion reflects careful planning and a clear vision for regional aviation, with the airline’s strategy focusing on connecting secondary cities, strengthening its Asean presence and establishing travel corridors to promote tourism, trade and economic development.

“These new routes are not just about expanding our network — they signal our direction as a carrier.

“By investing in Subang and Penang as hubs and leveraging Singapore as an important source of inbound tourists, we are also supporting preparations for Visit ÿ�մ��� 2026, ensuring that more travellers can experience ÿ�մ��� with greater ease,” he said.

Chandran added that the launch will open new opportunities for travellers, businesses, and communities alike, with the routes reflecting Batik Air’s strategic approach of connecting key domestic hubs with carefully selected international destinations that cater to ÿ�մ���n travelers.

“The nine new services demonstrate the airline’s commitment to delivering greater choice, convenience, and seamless travel, setting a new benchmark for regional connectivity,” he added.
